Come meet other guinea pig lovers at the Spring 2005 Pignic at Turkey Run Park, in McLean, Virginia. Bring your family, friends, and piggies too and enjoy a relaxing day at the park. Be sure to bring lunch and drinks for yourselves and snacks for your piggies. Also, bring lawn chairs and blankets and pens for your piggies. Feel free to bring pigtures to share.

>From GW Parkway Heading South:

Take Turkey Run Park Exit (This will be the first exit).
Go to Picnic Area B. We will be in the wooded area behind the bathrooms.

Foster some critters

Small Angels is in need of foster parents for guinea pigs. Foster parents are asked to provide food, bedding and lots of love until their little ones find a permanent home. Small Angels will supply a cage if needed. Fostering does require some driving -- to pick up and drop off foster animals and/or to attend adoption events. You must live within a practical driving distance of Frederick, Maryland. Unfortunately, http://www.weecompanions.com/ is at crisis capactity. If you were ever considering adopting a guinea pig from San Diego, CA, please do so now. They can not rescue any more animals if they do not adopt out anymore.

In other sad news, http://www.freewebs.com/gainesvilleguineapig/ has closed its doors after 22 wonderful years of helping guinea pigs find homes in the Florida area. Rescue work is a hard, volunteer only, endeavor, and many rescues never last as long as this. Please email the head of this rescue to let her know what a fabulous job she did, and how much her rescue will be missed. Good luck!

So this is the first posting here. Basically the premise behind this site is to get as many people as possible to be aware of the fact that there are mnay many many guinea pigs available for adoption at local animal shelters and rescues.
To your right, there is a drop down navigation menu that lists direct links to animal shelters across the country who list small animals for adoption.
In addition to these lists, I will post animals in need of adoption and guinea pig rescue news in the blog so people may be aware of what is going on in the rescue world. Volunteering, rescueing, cruelty cases, and adoption events will be published here regularly.
